Ramberg
The municipal centre of Flakstad, on the E10 on the north-west side of Flakstadøya. Ramberg has a sandy beach, a petrol station, shops and places to stay, and is a base between Vestvågøya and Moskenesøya close to the Kvalvika and Ryten trails.
Ramberg is a small settlement on the E10 on the north-west side of Flakstadøya and the administrative centre of Flakstad municipality. Including Justnes and the Flakstad church site, it had 318 residents in 2016. The first part of the name comes from ravn, raven; the second refers to the steep mountainside above.
What is there Visit Lofoten lists a library, a department store, a petrol station and boat and car workshops, and notes shops, tourist information, restaurants, cafés and accommodation. Store norske leksikon mentions rorbu rental. Rambergstranda, the sandy beach, is used for windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding, and for swimming on warm days. Flakstad Church, a timber cruciform church from 1780, stands just north-west of Ramberg.
What is nearby The Fredvang bridges lead to Fredvang and the trails to Kvalvika beach and Ryten; Visit Lofoten gives the distance from the Innersand trailhead to Ramberg as 7 km. Nusfjord lies on a side road on the south side of Flakstadøya, and Flakstad also has a glassblowing workshop at Vikten and a fishing museum and art smithy at Sund. Buses connect Flakstad with the rest of Lofoten.
Who it suits Beach visitors, hikers heading for Kvalvika and Ryten, and drivers who want a base between Vestvågøya and Moskenesøya with fuel and shops on hand.
Things to consider Ramberg is a small community. The nearest airport and the larger range of shops and services are at Leknes, back along the E10 on Vestvågøya.
