Hamnøy

Hamnøy is a fishing village on the island of Hamnøya at the mouth of Reinefjorden, on the south-east side of Moskenesøya in Moskenes municipality. It had 60 residents in 2016. The E10 crosses Hamnøya and five other islands in Reinefjorden on bridges, so the village sits on the main road. It is the northernmost of the Moskenes fishing villages, with Sakrisøy and Reine to the south.

What is there Rorbu rental is established here. Eliassen Rorbuer, at the entrance to Reinefjorden, is described by Visit Lofoten as perhaps one of the most photographed rorbu buildings in Lofoten, with the peaks of Festhelltinden and Olstinden behind. Visit Lofoten also notes that Hamnøy has appeared in publications including National Geographic and Condé Nast Traveler.

Getting here and nearby Visit Lofoten suggests the Bodø–Moskenes ferry followed by a bus, or a flight to Leknes or Svolvær and a bus onwards; Lofotekspressen (bus route 300) runs from Narvik and Evenes to Å. A local bus route links Å, Reine and Hamnøy. Visit Lofoten lists kayak trips on Reinefjorden and photo tours covering Reine and Hamnøy. Reine, further south, has the Lofotodden National Park visitor centre, the Reinebringen trail and boats to Vindstad for Bunes beach.
