A cottage on the water at one of the most photographed points in Lofoten, with a restaurant and a laundry on site, the Reinebringen and Ryten paths within reach, and a bus service that makes it workable without a car.

Couples in the studios and one-bedroom cottages; families and groups of four to six in the two- and three-bedroom units. The restaurant and the laundry make it a reasonable base for a long stay, and the Arctic Route bus suits travellers without a car.

This is a resort rather than a single cottage: units differ widely in size, view and price, so read which one you are booking. Children from three are charged at the adult rate, and cots and extra beds cost NOK 300 and NOK 500 for a stay. Breakfast runs in high season only. Hamnøy sits on the E10 with the summer traffic and the photographers that come with it, and Reine's shops are about 3 km off by the listing's grocery figure.

Twelve unit types. The smallest is a 20 m² studio for two; one-bedroom cottages and apartments of 30 to 40 m² also take two, as do the 34 m² superior cottages. Two-bedroom cottages and apartments of 44 and 48 m² sleep four, among them the waterfront traditional cottage and the waterfront superior apartment, and a 60 m² three-bedroom apartment sleeps six. Bed layouts recorded on the listing include a double with two singles, doubles, twin singles and bunk beds. Each unit has its own shower room and a kitchen or kitchenette.

Heating, private entrances, private bathrooms with showers and hairdryers, towels and linen. Kitchens and kitchenettes hold a fridge, an oven, a hob, a kettle, a coffee machine, kitchenware and a dining table, with a dishwasher and microwave listed among the units. A washing machine and a dryer are available to guests. Sea, mountain and courtyard views are recorded, and parking and WiFi are free.

Krambua, the restaurant on the site, serves local food with an Italian turn and works as a bar as well; breakfast is served in the high season only. Every unit also has a kitchen or kitchenette, and a grocery shop is about 3 km away by the listing's reckoning.

The cottages stand on Hamnøy, postcode 8390 Reine, in Moskenes municipality, at the mouth of Reinefjorden beside the E10 bridge. Kartverket's nearest registered settlement is Reine, 2.4 km away; this guide treats Hamnøy as its own place, and the resort sits at the heart of it.

Booking.com states four distances: a grocery store within 3 km, Reine town centre at 5 km, the Moskenes ferry terminal at 10 km and Leknes Airport at 50 km. The resort points guests to The Arctic Route bus as a way of getting about without a car.
