Eliassen Rorbuer
Red fishermen's cottages and sea house apartments on the small island of Hamnøy, at the mouth of Reinefjorden near Reine. The resort describes itself as the oldest rorbu resort in Lofoten; its oldest cabins date from 1890.
Why stay here
The cottages line Hamnøy harbour beside the Hamnøy bridge and look over Reinefjorden. Several were used by visiting fishermen during the January–April cod season, and most have been renovated while keeping their original character and décor. Reinebringen and Ryten are the hikes the resort points guests towards, and the Moskenes ferry terminal is 10 km away.

Units run from studios and one-bedroom cottages for two up to a three-bedroom apartment for six, so the resort works for couples as well as small families or groups. Travellers without a car can use The Arctic Route bus, which stops in front of reception.

Things to consider
Only some units are on the waterfront – those categories are listed separately and some traditional two-bedroom cottages use single and bunk beds. The public bus stop named Hamnøy is a 5–7 minute walk from reception, and the resort notes the nearest liquor store is 52 km away.
The accommodation
Twelve categories of cottages and apartments, from studio apartments for two to a three-bedroom apartment for six. Cottages have one or two bedrooms, a kitchen or kitchenette, a living and dining room and a bathroom with shower.
