Fredvang lies at the northern end of Moskenesøya, in the part of the island that belongs to Flakstad municipality. Visit Lofoten counts it among Flakstad's five traditional fishing villages, and most of the municipality's residents on Moskenesøya live in and around it. The village is reached on the Fv7708, which crosses the two Fredvang bridges, Kubholmleia bridge and Røssøystraumen bridge, both opened in 1988. There is fish processing in the village, and rorbu and sea house rentals.

What is nearby Fredvang is the gateway to Kvalvika and Ryten (543 m) in Lofotodden National Park, which was protected in 2018 and is Norway's youngest national park. Visit Lofoten recommends parking at Fredvang school or at the car park at Innersand, which is signed after the bridges. From Innersand the path leads to a fork where walkers choose between the top of Ryten and the beach at Kvalvika. Visit Lofoten puts the number of people making the trip at close to 90,000 a year. Drones are not allowed in the national park, and dogs must be kept on a lead for much of the year.

Who it suits Hikers who want to be close to Kvalvika and Ryten, and travellers looking for a small village away from the main road.

Things to consider For shopping, Visit Lofoten points to Ramberg, 7 km from Innersand, which also has a petrol station and tourist information. The route to Kvalvika and Ryten is heavily used, and Visit Lofoten asks walkers to use the designated car parks.
