Norwegian Fishing Village Museum (Norsk Fiskeværsmuseum), Å

A Museum Nord site covering much of the old fishing village of Å, with the boathouse, cod liver oil factory, smallholding, smithy, post office, fisherman's cabin and bakery, and the life of the village from about 1840 to 1960.

Why do it

The buildings are kept in place in a working village layout, and in summer there are demonstrations of blacksmithing, cod liver oil steaming, paint making and textile work, plus a bakery using a stone oven from 1878.

Where

Å, at the end of the E10 (postal address Åvegen 21, 8392 Sørvågen). Park just after the tunnel; about 3 minutes' walk to Å centre, with a souvenir shop and public toilets at the car park (Visit Lofoten).

Museum Nord 2026: 6 May–30 September daily 10:00–18:00; 1 October–6 December daily 11:00–15:00; closed 7 December 2026–2 January 2027. Bakery open 1 June–30 September (Visit Lofoten).
