Brunstranda

A white sandy beach beside the E10 on the north side of Flakstadøya, with a Norwegian Scenic Routes rest area sheltered from the road by a grassy bank. The service building has toilets open all year and a lounge out of the wind. Cyclists and surfers use it.

Rules

  • Fires. Norway's general ban on lighting fires in or near forest and other uncultivated land runs from 15 April to 15 September. Visit Lofoten says fires remain allowed where there is clearly no fire hazard, such as grilling on a beach well away from vegetation, or at municipal fire pits, unless the fire service declares a total ban, which also covers beaches and fire pits. The Lofoten outdoor recreation regulation recommends against disposable grills and recommends using designated fire sites.
  • Dogs. Dogs must be on a lead from 1 April to 20 August across Norway; Flakstad municipality extends this to 15 November in areas with grazing animals.

By road. Norwegian Scenic Routes places the rest area on the E10 in Flakstad municipality, midway between Leknes and Å.

Parking

Norwegian Scenic Routes says the walkways and parking areas at the rest area have been upgraded; fees are not stated.

Facilities

Service building with toilets open all year and a lounge sheltering visitors from wind and weather; new picnic furniture with a view of the sea. Emptying motorhome and caravan toilets is not permitted (Norwegian Scenic Routes).
