Solbakken

Very few houses in Lofoten take thirteen people under one roof with three bathrooms and a hot tub. For an extended family, a reunion or a group renting one base for a week of driving, Solbakken solves a problem that most of the islands' self-catering stock cannot.

Large groups and extended families. Six of the seven bedrooms have a double bed, so couples are well served; the seventh has a single. Pets are not allowed and the listing shows no cot, so a party with a baby should ask. It is a quiet fjord-side spot rather than a village, and a car is needed.

A refundable NOK 4,000 damage deposit is taken by credit card on arrival and returned within a week of check-out. Arrival runs from 16:00 to 21:00 with your time sent beforehand, and you leave by 11:00. Pets are not allowed, hen or stag groups are not taken, and quiet is asked for from 23:00 to 07:00. One detached house of 300 m² with a private entrance, let whole. Seven bedrooms: a double bed in six of them and a single bed in the seventh, seven beds in all, with a whole-property maximum of thirteen. Three bathrooms with baths, showers, toilets, towels and a hairdryer. Bed linen and towels are provided and the house is non-smoking.

A hot tub, a fireplace, a seating area, a sofa, a flat-screen TV, wardrobes and a dining table indoors, with heating throughout. A washing machine and a dishwasher cover the chores. Outside there is a patio and a garden, with sea, garden and mountain views recorded. WiFi and private parking on the site are free.

Self-catering. The kitchen carries an oven, a hob, a dishwasher, a fridge, an electric kettle, a coffee machine, a tea and coffee maker and kitchenware, with a dining table and a dining area — enough to cook for a full house. Booking.com lists no breakfast, restaurant or bar.

Skjelfjordveien 102 at Innerfjorden, in Flakstad municipality on the inner reach of Skjelfjorden. Kartverket's registered point for Innerfjorden is about 111 m from the house, and Nusfjord is 4 km away in a straight line. Booking.com gives the postal town as Ramberg and records a rural setting with sea, garden and mountain views.

Booking.com gives Nusfjord as 22 km from the house by road, Lofotenmat Sa as 34 km, Leknes Airport as 36 km and Vestvågøy Rådhus as 37 km. Free private parking is on the site, and Skjelfjordveien runs off the E10 on the eastern side of Flakstadøya. An answer on the listing puts boat hire and guided trips about ten minutes' drive away.
