Svinøya Rorbuer

The cabins sit in a working fishing settlement, beside the fish landing station, quayside buildings and fish racks, yet the town centre is a 15-minute walk across the Svinøya Bridge. The resort's restaurant, Børsen Spiseri, occupies a quayside trading warehouse dating from 1828, and a floating sauna is moored outside. Svinøya Rorbuer holds the Olavsrosa cultural heritage quality label for its work on Lofoten's coastal history.

The resort sells romantic two-night stays and northern lights packages, so couples visiting in the darker months are a clear target. With cabins of one to three double bedrooms and meeting rooms for up to 120 people, it also takes small groups and company retreats.

Breakfast and the floating sauna are charged separately. There is no electric car charger on site (the nearest is about three minutes' drive away), and the wood stoves in the few cabins that have them are sealed and cannot be used.

33 rorbu cabins, 8 rorbu suites, 12 historic houses or apartments, 6 modern apartments or rooms and a manor house with 9 rooms, 238 beds in total. The cabins have one to three double bedrooms, a kitchen with lounge and a bathroom with shower.

Free parking for staying guests, free Wi-Fi in all rooms and cabins, a paid self-service laundry, and meeting rooms for up to 120 people. Final cleaning is included; there is no daily housekeeping.

Børsen Spiseri serves dinner daily from 17:00 with a Nordic seasonal menu that changes four times a year, breakfast from 08:00 to 10:00, and lunch between 20 June and 20 August.

On Svinøya, a small island on the east side of Svolvær harbour reached by bridge, about 1.2 km from the Hurtigruten quay and 3.5 km from Svolvær Airport.
