Moskenes Camping

The draw is the ferry. Kartverket measures 0.4 km in a straight line from the campsite to Moskenes ferjekai, the Lofoten end of the Bodø crossing, which counts for a good deal on a late arrival or a dawn sailing. The site looks out over Vestfjorden towards the row of peaks it calls the Lofotveggen — Vågakallen and Ureberget among them — and claims to be the one campsite in Lofoten from which the whole wall can be seen. The cabins are self-contained down to the underfloor heating in the bathroom, so a night here need not mean camping at all.

Road-trippers with a motorhome or caravan, tent campers willing to take their chances on space, and anyone crossing on the Bodø ferry who wants a bed within reach of the quay. The cabins suit a party of four or more who would rather cook for themselves and can give it three nights. Children under six pitch free and there is a playground, and the pub on site means dinner does not call for a drive.

Moskenes Camping publishes no check-in or check-out times, no cabin count and no maximum number of guests per cabin, so settle the size of your party and your arrival time when you book. Cabins are arranged by email or the site's own form rather than an online booking engine, and carry a three-night minimum; tent pitches cannot be reserved at all. Facilities thin out in the shoulder season, when fewer of the 18 toilets and 12 showers are open. The campsite's site says nothing about WiFi or dogs — OpenStreetMap's entry records wireless internet and dogs on a lead, which is worth confirming rather than counting on. This is a working campsite, so the cabins sit among motorhomes and tents rather than on their own.

Cabins, count not stated, each with a terrace, a bedroom for two, a large loft holding beds for at least two more, and a bathroom with shower corner, toilet, basin and underfloor heating. The kitchen has running water, a cooker, a fridge, an extractor and a coffee maker; the dining table and the sofa corner each seat four or more. Three nights is the minimum stay. Separately there are made-up pitches for motorhomes, caravans, roof tents and campervans, with electricity or without — only seven pitches without — and tent ground let drop-in.

One of the toilets in the service buildings is an accessible toilet. The campsite's own site does not say whether the cabins or the pitches are step-free.

Two service buildings, entered on a door code issued with the stay, hold 18 toilets and 12 showers in summer and rather fewer off-peak, a kitchen for guests and washing machines. Showering costs guests nothing; a wash or a tumble-dry was listed at 60 NOK apiece and detergent at 10 NOK in 2026. Shower and changing rooms are separate for women and men behind lockable doors, and one toilet is an accessible one. Outdoors there is a grill hut with a barbecue, a playground and the campsite's own disposal point for motorhome waste. OpenStreetMap's entry adds drinking water, picnic tables and wireless internet.

Pøsa pub stands on the campsite and opens daily in season, serving simple meals and cold drinks under a full licence. Beyond that it is self-catering: the cabins have kitchens of their own and there is a shared one in the service buildings.

Moskenes, on the eastern side of Moskenesøya in Moskenes municipality, Nordland. Kartverket registers the settlement as Moskenes and puts the ferry quay 0.4 km from the campsite in a straight line; the postal address reads 8392 Sørvågen, and OpenStreetMap places the site on Birger Eriksens vei. The outlook is across Vestfjorden to the row of peaks the campsite calls the Lofotveggen.

The car ferry from Bodø lands at Moskenes ferjekai, which Kartverket's register puts 0.4 km from the campsite in a straight line. Sørvågen is 1.9 km off, Å 3.7 km and Reine 3.8 km, again straight line. The campsite gives Lofotr Viking Museum at Borg as 70 km to the east.
