May's Apartments

A studio in the middle of Reine that you can walk out of and be at the water in a minute, run by a family that has built the place up unit by unit. For two people it is a compact, well-rated alternative to driving in from a cabin down the road.

Couples and solo travellers take the studios; a family or two couples take a duplex, which splits into two bedrooms over two floors. Cots are free for children under three. Anyone with a mobility problem should ask for a ground-floor unit, as the upper floors are reached by stairs.

Upper floors are reached by stairs only, so Storm and Bris are out for anyone who cannot manage them; Stilla and Kuling are on the ground floor. Check-in runs from 15:00 to 22:00 and the property asks for your arrival time in advance. Quiet hours are 23:00 to 08:00. A damage policy lets the property charge as much as NOK 1,000 once the stay is over. Children are charged as adults from the age of three, no extra beds are available, and hen and stag groups are refused. Pets are taken only on request.

Six units. Stilla and Kuling are 26 m² studios on the ground floor with a terrace; Storm and Bris are 26 m² studios on the first floor with a balcony; each takes up to three. Flo and Fjæra are 55 m² duplexes with two bedrooms and take up to five. Across the bedrooms Booking.com records four double beds, two of them large. Every unit has a private bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer, free toiletries, linen and towels, a kitchen or kitchenette with a dishwasher, a fridge, a hob, a toaster and a kettle, and a sitting area holding a sofa and a flat-screen television.

Two studios, Stilla and Kuling, are on the ground floor; the upper floors of the building are reached by stairs only.

Air conditioning, heating, a fan, an iron, soundproofing and a private entrance in the units, with tile or marble and hardwood or parquet floors. Laundry is shared and self-service, with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Outdoors each unit has a patio or a balcony with furniture and an outdoor dining area, and the listing records sea, mountain, landmark and village views. Parking is free and on site, WiFi is free, and the building is non-smoking.

Self-catering. Each apartment has its own kitchen or kitchenette with a dishwasher, a hob, a fridge, a kettle, a toaster and kitchenware, plus a dining table. There is no breakfast, restaurant or bar on site; the shop and the places to eat in Reine are within the village.

Kirkeveien 36 in Reine, Moskenes, 107 m from the point Kartverket registers for the village — as central as accommodation in Reine gets. Booking.com lists sea, mountain, landmark and village views from the units.

Booking.com gives Leknes Airport as 58 km from the apartments. The property answers on its listing that buses stop in the middle of Reine, by the Circle K filling station, around five minutes away on foot, and points guests at the Traveller Taxi service for local journeys. Parking at the building is free.
