Lofoten Cabins – Sund

Self-contained cabins in a working village rather than a resort, with the sea and the mountains at the door, a kitchen and a dishwasher in each unit, and one cabin large enough for eight. Sund sits between Flakstad and the Reine area, so both ends of the western islands are within a drive.

Couples and small groups in the two-bedroom cabins, and a party of up to eight in the four-bedroom one. Bedrooms are laid out with single beds, which suits friends and families better than couples wanting a double. Pets are not taken and no cot or extra bed can be added.

Payment is taken in full by bank transfer before you arrive, and the camp contacts you after booking with the details. A refundable NOK 3,000 damage deposit is taken by card on arrival. Arrival runs from 16:00 to 21:00 with your time sent ahead, and you leave by 11:00. Upper floors are reached by stairs only, pets are not allowed, no cot or extra bed can be added, and quiet is asked for between 23:00 and 07:00. Sund is a few kilometres off the E10, so a car makes the stay much easier.

Three cabins, let separately. Unit 1 is a four-bedroom chalet of 100 m² with eight beds and a maximum of eight guests; Units 2 and 3 are two-bedroom chalets of 56 m² with four beds each and a maximum of five. Bedrooms are furnished with pairs of single beds, with a bunk bed and a sofa bed in the living room making up the larger cabin. Each cabin has a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, a hairdryer, towels and linen, and its own entrance. Upper floors are reached by stairs only.

A fireplace, a seating area, a sofa, a cable flat-screen TV and a radio indoors, with hardwood or parquet floors, soundproofing, wardrobes and child safety socket covers. A washing machine and a dishwasher cover the chores. Outside are a balcony, a patio and a terrace with furniture, with sea, mountain and inner courtyard views. WiFi and private parking on the site are free and the cabins are non-smoking.

Self-catering in each cabin: an oven, a hob, a dishwasher, a fridge, an electric kettle, a tea and coffee maker and kitchenware, with a dining table and dining area. Booking.com lists no breakfast, restaurant or bar at the camp; Sund village is a short walk away.

Gammelværret 27 in Sund, Flakstad municipality, on the south coast of Flakstadøya between Ramberg and the Reine area. Kartverket's registered point for Sund lies about 280 m from the camp, and Nusfjord is 6.4 km off in a straight line. The listing records a rural setting with sea and mountain views.

Booking.com gives Nusfjord as 29 km from the camp by its own measure, Lofotenmat Sa as 42 km, Vestvågøy Rådhus as 44 km and Leknes Airport as 44 km. Sund lies on a side road off the E10, and free private parking is on the site.
