Reine is a working fishing village of 296 residents on a peninsula outside the mouth of Reinefjorden, and its rorbuer sit among the fish landing and processing that still goes on there. Reine Rorbuer has about 40 cabins by the harbour with Restaurant Gammelbua on site; Andøy Vest Rorbuer is also in the village.

What they are like

Reine itself has a Coop Prix on Moskenesveien and a Circle K station, and Visit Lofoten names Gammelbua as the village restaurant, with more places to eat in Sørvågen about 7 km away.

Getting there

The E10 crosses the mouth of Reinefjorden on bridges between the islands, and Reineveien leads off it into the village. The Moskenes ferry quay for the Bodø car ferry is about 5 km, Leknes Airport about 58 km. Buses 300, 742 and 772 call at Reine. A boat crosses Reinefjorden to Vindstad, the start of the walk to Bunes beach, and also serves the roadless settlements inside the fjord.

Who it suits

Walkers and photographers who want the Reinebringen trail and the fjord boat close by, with a shop and a fuel station in the village. Reine is busy: Visit Lofoten warns of crowds on Reinebringen, especially during the Norwegian summer holiday in July, and asks visitors to use the public car parks and watch for people working around the harbour.
