Why stay here

Each building has been restored with reclaimed materials and recycled Nordic furnishings, so the stay doubles as a lesson in how the Lofoten fishery worked. The Steamery has a window in the floor to watch the tide below. The property is certified by Norwegian Ecotourism, and farmers' breakfast is included.

Things to consider

There is a minimum stay of three nights. Kvalnes is about 20 minutes' drive east of Leknes Airport off the E10, so a car is needed. The summer restaurant needs 24 hours' notice and at least six guests in total.

The accommodation

The Saltery sleeps six over three floors with kitchen and fireplace; The Fisherman's Cabin sleeps four with kitchen and wood stoves; The Steamery sleeps two with kitchen and a double bedroom; Edvardbua and Sigurdbua sleep two each. A farmhouse at Soleng is also let.

Wi-Fi in all houses, washing machine and tumble dryer for guests, and kayaks and bicycles guests can use.

Breakfast is included; a seasonal three-course dinner with an exhibition tour and film is served in the barn in summer by reservation.

Kvalnes, on the north side of Vestvågøy, about 20 minutes' drive from Leknes Airport via the E10 and the Haverringen exit. Leknes is the nearest listed destination.
