The Tide Hotel

A hotel at the southern end of Lofoten with its own seafood kitchen, room service and bike hire, a lift to the upper floors, and rooms that look over the harbour or out to sea.

Couples and travellers who want dinner and breakfast settled on site, families who can take the 23 m² family room, and anyone who needs a lift or step-free room — rarer in Lofoten than it should be. Not for anyone travelling with a dog, or under 18.

The listing and the hotel disagree about parking: Booking.com puts private parking at an added cost, while the hotel, answering a guest who asked what it costs, said it is free for its guests. Settle it before you arrive. There are no cots and no extra beds, so a third person needs the family room. No one under 18 can check in, pets are not accepted, and booking more than two rooms can bring different terms. Check-in closes at 23:00 and photo identification and a credit card are asked for. Three of the seven grades carry no room size on the listing.

Double or Twin with Harbour View, 18 m²; Superior Double or Twin with Sea View, 19 m²; Family Room with disability access, 23 m² and three beds; Superior Deluxe Double or Twin, 22 m²; Superior Room Terrace with sea view; Standard Single; and Double Room with Balcony and Sea View — the last three without a size on the listing. Every room has a private bathroom with a shower, a kettle, a desk, a flat-screen television, air conditioning, soundproofing and linen; bathrobes and slippers are listed. Upper floors are reached by lift and by stairs, and one unit is described as wheelchair accessible throughout.

The restaurant serves seafood together with local and European dishes, and vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes can be requested. There is a bar, room service, packed lunches, fruit, wine and champagne, children's meals, and breakfast that can be brought to the room.

Besselvågveien 8 in Sørvågen, the tettsted Kartverket registers in Moskenes municipality, about 200 metres in a straight line from the point this guide uses for the village. Both harbour and sea views are listed from the rooms.

Booking.com gives Værøy Heliport as 40 km away and Nusfjord as 47 km. Asked how to arrive from Leknes Airport, the hotel pointed to a hire car or bus 300, with timetables from Reis Nordland; asked from the Moskenes ferry, it said the bus is the alternative to walking.
