Somewhere to eat, drink and sleep on one quay at Ballstad, in a rorbu, a design suite or a villa, with a shared sauna included and a hot tub, wood-heated, to book.

Couples in the design suites and one-bedroom apartments; families and groups in the two- and three-bedroom rorbuer and the Nordland villa. It is also the rare place here with step-free rooms and a restaurant on site, which suits anyone who would rather not drive after dark.

Sauna and hot tub have terms: the staff say the shared sauna is open daily from 18:00 to 21:00 and included, a private sauna outside those hours costs NOK 1,000 an hour, and the hot tub, which is wood-heated, costs NOK 3,950 and must be booked ahead. A cot is NOK 100 per child per night, and no extra beds are kept. Nobody under 18 can check in; arrivals run from 15:00 to 21:00 and checkout from 08:00 to 11:00, and the property wants your arrival time a day or more ahead. Parties of more than 15 are sent payment instructions by email after booking. Pets are not taken. Units differ a great deal in size and layout, so read the one you are booking rather than the property as a whole.

Booking.com lists eight room types: Standard One-Bedroom Apartment (20 m²), Design Suite and Design Suite with Sea View (25 m², one bed each), Deluxe Design Suite (32 m²), One-Bedroom Apartment (35 m²), Two-Bedroom Apartment (45 m²), Three-Bedroom House (80 m², three beds) and Large Three-Bedroom Cottage (80 m²). Bedrooms across the property are mostly doubles, taking two each, with one bunk-bed room. Private bathrooms throughout, some with a bath, a spa bath or an additional toilet, and some units have a kitchen or kitchenette, a balcony or a fireplace. Solsiden Brygge's own site groups these as design suites, rorbu apartments, traditional rorbuer, a Nordland villa and standard apartments.

Booking.com lists facilities for disabled guests, units wholly on the ground floor and units described as wheelchair accessible, while other units are reached by stairs. Asked about grab bars and stairs, the staff say they have rooms with easy access to the room, bathroom and toilet. Check the specific unit before booking.

Restaurant, bar, coffee house, snack bar, minimarket and room service, with wine and champagne, packed lunches and children's meals. A sauna and, in some units, a spa bath; a washing machine; free WiFi and free on-site parking. Units have flat-screen TVs with a streaming service, tea and coffee making, kitchens or kitchenettes with a dishwasher, oven, stovetop, fridge and kitchenware, free toiletries, hairdryers, patios and terraces with outdoor dining, and sea or mountain views. Facilities for disabled guests are listed and the staff say some rooms have step-free access to the room, bathroom and toilet.

The restaurant on site works from seafood, with a bar, a coffee house and a snack bar alongside it, plus room service, packed lunches and children's meals. Many units also have their own kitchen or kitchenette, and a minimarket on the quay covers basics. Booking.com guests rate the breakfast highly.

Moloveien, on the mole at Ballstad, a fishing village on the south coast of Vestvågøy that Kartverket records as a built-up area. The quay looks out to the Norwegian Sea and across to the mountains, and the village shop is close by.
