Trail

  • Trailhead. Haukland beach parking
  • Distance. 2 km one way (guide); 1.75 km one way (listing)
  • Time. 2–3 hours round trip
  • Season. May–September
  • Difficulty. Medium, with some exposed parts

Why do it

Height comes quickly, so the views over Haukland beach start early, and the top looks south to Haukland and north to Uttakleiv.

Where

Park at Haukland beach (same start as Himmeltinden). Cross to the old cart road, follow it about 500 m to a clear path up the hillside, then at a brook take the path left along the ridge. Do not take the paths straight on towards Uttakleiv or towards Himmeltinden.

Best time

May–September (Visit Lofoten). Not recommended when the path is covered in snow and ice.

How long it takes

Visit Lofoten guide: 2–3 hours round trip; 2 km one way (the listing says 1.75 km one way); 400 m.

Who it suits

Older children used to this terrain and not afraid of heights; not recommended for small children (Visit Lofoten).

Practical information

  • To avoid the most exposed parts along the cliffs, Visit Lofoten suggests walking slightly further into the terrain and turning back if uncomfortable.
