Ure Lodge

Refitted rorbuer at the water's edge with breakfast in the morning, a family cabin that takes a large party, and Leknes Airport twelve to fifteen minutes away by the lodge's own reckoning — with a key box for the guests who leave for a five o'clock flight.

Families, who have cots, extra beds and family rooms to draw on; groups, who can take the Large Family Rorbu; and couples in the 40 m² standard cabin. Children of thirteen and over are charged as adults.

Check-in does not open until 17:00, though check-out can be as early as 05:30 and the lodge says keys are left in a box by the door for an early departure. Quiet hours run from 23:00 to 06:00 and hen, stag and similar parties are refused. Pets are not accepted. Upper floors are reached by stairs only. Extra beds cost NOK 400 per person a night and are not in the room price. One cabin has a washing machine but no tumble dryer, by the lodge's own account.

Five grades are bookable: Rorbu Standard, 40 m² with two beds for two; Standard Quadruple Room, 35 m² with four beds for up to six, taking five children; Rorbu Medium, 56 m² with five beds for five; Large Family Rorbu, 50 m² with six beds and an occupancy of ten; and Rorbu Deluxe, 82 m² with three beds for five, taking five children. Bedrooms are listed as two single beds, one super-king double, one double or a single. Units have a private bathroom with a shower, free toiletries, a hairdryer, towels and linen, a kitchen with a dishwasher, fridge, microwave, oven, stovetop, toaster, kettle and kitchenware, a washing machine, a seating area with a sofa, a flat-screen TV carrying streaming services, and a terrace, patio or balcony. Sofa beds and a fold-up bed are listed, and family rooms are among the facilities. The lodge's own site counts eight rorbu cabins.

Booking.com records that upper floors are reached by stairs only. No wheelchair-accessible unit is listed.

Free parking, free WiFi, heating through the units, soundproofing, hardwood or parquet floors, a clothes rack and a drying rack. Bicycles can be hired, and the lodge says it has several chargers for electric cars. Sea, mountain and landmark views are recorded. Upper floors are reached by stairs only and the property is non-smoking.

A buffet breakfast is served, with fruit, juice and cheese among the choices. The lodge's own site names a restaurant and a gallery café on the site, and each cabin has a kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, stovetop and toaster for the rest of the day.

Ureveien 315 at Ure, on the west coast of Vestvågøy, 7.5 km from Leknes in a straight line. Booking.com's address and district both give Sennesvik; Kartverket's nearest registered name is the hamlet Sennesvik gamle, about 2.7 km away, which would read oddly as the settlement. The cabins look over the sea, with mountains behind.

Asked how long the drive to Leknes Airport takes, the lodge answered twelve to fifteen minutes; Booking.com puts the airport 12 km away, with Vestvågøy town hall 12 km, Lofotenmat Sa 14 km, Borga Radarstasjon 36 km and Nusfjord 39 km. The lodge says it can arrange a transfer or taxi to the airport if you tell it your departure, and that keys can be left in the box outside the door for a very early start.
