Vik beach

A sandy bay at Vik on the north side of Vestvågøya, about 800 m in a straight line from Haukland beach. It lies within the Hauklandstranda outdoor recreation area mapped by the Norwegian Environment Agency, in the grazed Uttakleiv, Haukland and Vik landscape.

Rules

  • Fires. Norway's general ban on lighting fires in or near forest and other uncultivated land runs from 15 April to 15 September. Visit Lofoten says fires remain allowed where there is clearly no fire hazard, such as grilling on a beach well away from vegetation, or at municipal fire pits, unless the fire service declares a total ban, which also covers beaches and fire pits. The Lofoten outdoor recreation regulation recommends against disposable grills and recommends using designated fire sites.

Questions

Is Vik beach the same as Haukland beach?
No. OpenStreetMap maps Vikbukta strand as a separate beach about 800 m south-east of Haukland, though both fall inside the Hauklandstranda outdoor recreation area in the Norwegian Environment Agency's register.
