Uttakleiv beach
A beach of sand and large rounded stones at Uttakleiv, a small farming community on the north side of Vestvågøya. Local farmers run the visitor facilities, and entry and parking are paid by number-plate recognition. Paths lead to Haukland, Mannen and Himmeltinden.
Rules
- Camping. Visit Lofoten's Uttakleiv page shows a map with a green organised camping area for tents and motorhomes, and orange areas where camping is prohibited but a tent may still be pitched under the Outdoor Recreation Act; check that map and local signs before pitching.
- Fires. Norway's general ban on lighting fires in or near forest and other uncultivated land runs from 15 April to 15 September. Visit Lofoten says fires remain allowed where there is clearly no fire hazard, such as grilling on a beach well away from vegetation, or at municipal fire pits, unless the fire service declares a total ban, which also covers beaches and fire pits. The Lofoten outdoor recreation regulation recommends against disposable grills and recommends using designated fire sites.
Good for
- a midnight sun viewpoint in summer, weather permitting
- starting walks to Mannen and Himmeltinden
- motorhome stops with a dumping station
