Seafront new cabin in Lofoten

A bed arrangement that actually works for three couples, two bathrooms rather than one, and an arrival window that runs to midnight — useful at Ballstad, 12 km from Leknes airport, when the last flight lands late. Groups of up to six, or a family wanting a high chair and a free cot for a baby under two. Anyone landing late: check-in stays open until 00:00 and departure can begin at 04:00, which suits a dawn flight. Not for dog owners, and not for anyone who needs a seventh bed — no extra bed is available.

Booking.com's own floor area for the unit reads 8 m², which cannot be right for a three-bedroom house with two bathrooms; take the room count, not the figure, and ask the property for the size if it matters. Cancellation is free more than a fortnight ahead of arrival; inside that fortnight the property has said the full price is charged. A cot is free for a child up to two but no extra bed can be added. Pets are refused and the cabin is non-smoking. Upper floors are reached by stairs only, and hen, stag and similar groups are turned away.

One detached cabin let whole. Three bedrooms, each with a double bed and each taking two people. Two bathrooms: one private, with a shower, a hairdryer, towels and toilet paper, plus an additional toilet. A living area with a fireplace, a sofa, a wardrobe, a dining area and a dining table, and a flat-screen TV taking cable and pay-per-view channels. Bed linen is supplied, floors are hardwood or parquet, and the cabin is described as hypoallergenic.

Upper floors are reached by stairs only.

Parking and WiFi are both free and on site. Heating, a private entrance, a washing machine, a drying rack and a socket beside the bed. The kitchen carries an oven, a hob, a dishwasher, a fridge, an electric kettle, kitchenware and cleaning products, and a children's high chair is listed. Outside there is a terrace with furniture. An airport shuttle with pick-up and drop-off is offered and car hire can be arranged at the cabin. The whole building is non-smoking.

Self-catering. No meals are served, but the kitchen is a working one — oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge, kettle, kitchenware — with a dining table indoors and a high chair for a small child. Chocolates or cookies are put out for arriving guests.

Kræmmervikveien at Ballstad, the tettsted Kartverket registers about 505 metres away, in Vestvågøy municipality. The setting is rural, the ground is recorded as beachfront, and the views are sea and mountain. The centre point this guide uses for Ballstad is 1.1 km off in a straight line.
